Modern European Studies Interdisciplinary Concentration

Modern European Studies familiarizes students with the legacy of Europe from the Enlightenment to the present in politics, economics, and culture, with particular emphasis on Europe's new role in the contemporary world.   The concentration is open to all students. This program should interest particularly those majoring in fields within the humanities, social sciences, and in international business with a special focus on modern Europe.  Modern European Studies seeks to enhance the intellectual life of the university by addressing modern and contemporary European themes from interdisciplinary perspectives. Through a series of lectures and special events, MES invites ongoing discussion within John Carroll University and with a broader community of scholars and Cleveland-area residents.
