Epideictic Rhetoric
Epideictic rhetoric uses the characteristic topics (topoi)
of praise and blame. An epideictic speech is an "embellished" statement
of facts, with great vivacity, to persuade the audience of the praiseworthiness
or blameworthiness of a person, group, or idea. It is typically concerned
with the audience's belief in the present.
A few examples of epideictic speeches:
-
birthday speech
-
wedding speech
