The Writings of St. Paul
Pre-Assignment
last update: 19 January 2007

  1. Write a brief essay (two or three paragraphs) on your relationship with the Bible, and especially what you know/think of Paul and his letters. (NB: The essay will be graded on the basis of quality and clarity of expression—including proper format, spelling, punctuation, etc.—but not on the extent of your knowledge of the Biblical materials.
  2. Read the Book of Acts (entire)
  3. Read the essay on Paul: Prophet or Apostle?
  4. Write an addendum to your initial essay responding to the following two questions:
    1. How have these readings changed your view of Paul?
    2. What two or three key questions have they raised in your mind about Paul's life and/or letters?
  5. After you are finished with all your writing, then peruse the course web page and see what you can do with the three Pretests that are available on the course Blackboard. (NB: This is just for informational purposes, NOT for a grade.)
