Small Group Discussion #2

After forming your small group, delegate one of the four roles to each group member. Be sure you give each group member time to answer the questions. At the top of the page where you are recording the notes from your discussion, write the name of each group member and indicate which role she/he took for this discussion (e.g., E, C, R, S).

1. What is "salvation" (soteria)?
2. Describe Jesus' view of the Kingdom of God.
3. What does it mean to say Jesus is the Christ (God-for-us)?
4. What does it mean to say that Jesus is "Immanuel" (God-is-with-us)?
5. John Shea claims: "Before the son of God could descend from heaven and die on the cross, Jesus of Nazareth had to rise from the dead." (Stories of God, 117) What do you think he means by this? Do you agree with Shea?
6. How has your image of Jesus changed since we began this course, and how is it the same?
