One-Minute Essay

The Instructor will ask you to respond to one of the following sets of prompts for this one-page, in-class essay.
  1. Clarity: Of the concepts and data presented in the readings, lectures, and other materials for class recently (i.e., today, last week), are there any that remain unclear to you? If so, which one(s)? If not, are there any that you can imagine might not be clear to your classmates or friends? Do your best to frame a question (or two) that would help clarify that/those concept(s).
  2. Comprehension: Of the concepts and data presented in the readings, lectures, and other materials for class recently (i.e., today, last week), which ones are the most comprehensible and clear in your mind? Choose one and briefly show how you would explain it to a classmate who doesn't understand it.
  3. Importance: Of the concepts and data presented in the readings, lecture, and other materials for class recently (i.e., today, last week), which do you think are the most important for understanding this subject? Choose at least one to explain why.
  4. Interest: Of the concepts and data presented in the readings, lectures, and other materials for class recently (i.e., today, last week), which strike you as the most interesting, academically and/or personally? Choose at least one to explain why.
