Guidelines for Contributors to the
Proceedings: Eastern Great Lakes
& Midwest Biblical Societies

  1. Contributors to Proceedings should follow the style sheet of the Journal of Biblical Literature [JBL 107 (1988): 579–96] with the following additions and modifications:
    1. After editorial review, papers are to be re-submitted camera-ready, incorporating all the editors' suggestions.
    2. Papers may be typed in IBM Prestige Elite or printed in Times Roman 12 pitch (or its equivalent.)
    3. Margins should be ½" top and bottom and 1" right and left.
    4. The text of the paper should have 1½ line spacing. The title, author's name and address, indented quotations, and notes should be single-spaced (double-spaced between the title and author information and between each note.)
    5. The title should be centered and placed at the top of the first page of text. The author's name and address should also be centered and placed under the title and separated from it by a double space.
    6. Quotations in Hebrew, Greek or other non-Roman alphabets should be typed in the original language or transliterated into English (using JBL style) and typed. No handwritten Hebrew or Greek will be accepted.
    7. Notes should be collected at the end of the paper. They should be headed Notes, indented 5 spaces on the first line, enumerated with superscript numbers, single-spaced, with a double space between each note.
    8. There should be no page number or other header or footer information on the page.
  2. Papers must be limited to fifteen pages including notes, except for the presidential address and invited papers which may have twenty pages.
  3. To be considered for publication a paper must have been delivered at the regional meeting of one of the sponsoring societies in the year the paper is submitted. Authors should submit a copy of their paper to a member of the editorial board. Authors may instead submit their manuscript directly to the general editor. Deadline for submission is May 30.
  4. Authors should also submit a one-hundred-word abstract of their paper, typed on a separate page.
  5. Authors will receive three offprint copies of their paper.
