Getting Started with Service Learning Is as Easy as 1-2-3

1. Enroll as a Service Learning Faculty member.

To enroll as a Service Learning Faculty member, please contact the Center for Community Service at (216) 397-4698.  We will assign you a username and password to our website which will provide you with access to a special Faculty section allowing you to register your course, view student service placements and monitor their service hours.

2. Register your service learning course with the Center for Community Service

Once you have enrolled, please complete our online Service Learning Course Registration Form as soon as possible.  This allows the Center’s staff to (1) develop the necessary placements with community-based organizations, (2) plan the transportation logistics and schedule, and (3) enter your course into the WEB-based database for more accurate recordkeeping.

To complete this form your will need the following information:

• Is service learning required for all or an optional course assignment;
• At least two learning outcomes for your service learning assignment;
• If the service should be targeted to a particular population;
• If your service assignment is a weekly, semester-long activity or can be performed occasionally (e.g. once a month for a semester), or a one-time project-based assignment.

3.  Become familiar with the Faculty area of the Center’s WEB site

There is a special faculty-only area on the Center for Community Service’s WEB site.  Here you will be able to see which of your students registered for their service learning placement, where they’re doing service, their attendance and how many hours they’ve served.  You will be able to print your reports, or our staff can provide you with this information if you prefer.
