English Professor Steven Hayward traveled to Turin, Italy in June to receive the 2006 Grinzane
Cavour Prize for Emerging Novelists for his novel, The Secret
Mitzvah of Lucio Burke.
Established in 1982, the Grinzane Cavour Prize is one of the most
famous Italian awards for fiction. Among its recipients are some of
the most important writers in the world, including Jorge Amado, Mario
Vargas Llosa, José Saramago, Günter Grass, Julien Green, Nadine Gordimer,
Doris Lessing, Wole Soyinka, Carlos Fuentes, Czeslaw Milosz, Bohumil
Hrabal, Yves Bonnefoy, J. M. Coetzee and V.S. Naipaul. |
