Welcome to the University Core Curriculum in the Liberal Arts, the heart and soul of education at John Carroll.  The Core Curriculum asks students to explore themselves and the world around them, and to learn those things that are necessary to become world citizens.  Through it, students develop a better understanding of themselves, their own culture, other cultures, and how the world works.  They develop the skills that are necessary to understand and critically evaluate ideas, theories, and concepts developed by others, and to develop and evaluate critically their own ideas.  The world of knowledge and understanding that the Core Curriculum brings to life is exciting and fascinating.  I invite you into that world and I hope you enjoy the journey.
