2008

Alicia Miller has been accepted to the JET program and will be teaching English in
Odate City, Akita Prefecture
in Japan next year.
Alicia is an education major with an EAS concentration. She previously spent 2 weeks in Japan with the 2006 JCU Pop Culture Study Tour.

Nick Brundula will be participating in the Ohio-Saitama Internship Program, a highly competitive program which requires a high level of competency in Japanese language.
During the program, Nick will stay with a host family and visit companies in Saitama to observe the corporate environment and to learn about Japanese business. He will also take tours in various areas and meet officials from the government offices in Saitama.
Nick is a communications major with an EAS concentration. He previously spent an academic year at Nanzan University through our exchange program there.

Melissa Cigoi published an article on “Education of Ethnic Minority and Han Children in China 's Borderlands Region” in the Wittenberg University East Asian Studies Journal (Vol. 33, 2008).
Melissa is a sociology major with an EAS concentration. Her article is based on her research with Dr. Nietupski in China in summer 2006.

Rosemary Stanitz-Skove published an article on “Economics of the Borderlands Region in Gansu Province ” in the Wittenberg University East Asian Studies Journal (Vol. 33, 2008).
Rosemary is an accounting major. Her article is based on her research with Dr. Nietupski in China in summer 2006.

David Krueger has been accepted into the JET program and will leave for Aichi Prefecture, Japan in August to teach English for a year.
David is a political science major with an EAS concentration. He is a skilled martial artist and will continue his study of Okinawan karate and the Japanese language while he is working in Japan. |

Lauren Stockhausen has been accepted into the JET program and will leave for Fukui Prefecture, Japan in August to teach English for a year.
Lauren completed her degree in education with an EAS concentration in 2005. While studing at JCU, she participated in the 2004 "Popular Culture in Japan" Study Tour. |

Chris Miller has been accepted into the JET program and will leave for Aichi Prefecture, Japan in August to teach English for a year.
Chris, an experienced high school teacher, completed his MA in Japanese History at JCU in May, 2006. |
2005

Tim Grose has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue his research interests in China. He will study the economic and technological development in Xinjiang, China.
Tim, an honors student, is an east Asian studies major. He went to China in a summer research trip and spent one semester at The Beijing Center in 2002.
Tim published an article entitled "Health and Wellness in Today's China: Traditional Thought in a Land of Progressing Modernity" in the Wittenberg University East Asian Studies Journal (Vol. 29, 2004). |
