International Student Application Process
Applying to John Carroll University is easy and FREE! That's right, no application fee. Just follow these steps:
- Choose one of the following application methods that works best for you:
- Submit official, notarized transcripts of all secondary and post-secondary education. In cases where the transcripts are in a language other than English the original transcripts must be submitted along with notarized English translations and grading scales. It is also recommended that you submit the Common Application International Supplement.
- Make sure we have the results of any and all testing by either the College Board (SAT I), the American College Testing Program (ACT), or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The results of the TOEFL must meet a minimum score of 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, or 79 internet-based. Grades from English classes or Testimonials are not permitted. To have results sent directly to John Carroll from the testing agencies, our university code for the SAT is 1342 and for the ACT is 3282.
- Submit the Financial Guarantee Statement, which is a declaration of financial resources available to meet obligations incurred while attending the university. International students not having their own personal health insurance are also required to purchase a student health plan.
- Submit a notarized statement verifying the applicant's country of birth and country of citizenship (copy of passport).
The application deadline is February 1, 2008 if applying as an incoming freshman student or, if transferring, by August 1 for the fall semester or January 1 for the spring semester. Applications for admission will be accepted after these dates on a space-available basis.
