Q. Who is the ideal candidate for admission to JCU?
A. John Carroll looks for the well-rounded student. As a result, the admission evaluation process will focus on the following criteria: high school curriculum, high school GPA, extracurricular involvement, ACT or SAT-I scores, application essay, and recommendations. The middle 50% range for incoming students for high school GPA normally is 3.1-3.8. The middle 50% range for an ACT composite is 23-27, 520-620 for the SAT Verbal/Critical Reading, and 530-630 for the SAT Math.

Q. What deposits must I pay to reserve my place at JCU?
A. In order to reserve your seat in the class at John Carroll, you must send a deposit that opens your student account and assures that you receive an invitation to schedule orientation and a housing contract if you plan to live on campus. To guarantee your place, you must return your Enrollment Reservation Form with a $300 tuition deposit, postmarked on or before May 1st. Unfortunately, we are not able to grant extensions to the May 1st deadline to guarantee a spot in the freshman class, but we certainly will accept a deposit from an accepted student after May 1st if space is available.

Q. Are tuition deposits refundable?
A. Deposits are refundable if requested in writing with a postmark on or before May 1st. A deposit is not refundable after May 1st and, for fairness reasons, no exceptions are made to this rule. We expect that a student who has a deposit on account at John Carroll after May 1st will attend. Unfortunately, those who place multiple deposits at a number of colleges may close space for other eligible students. We sincerely hope you make a good college decision, and then notify us as soon as possible whether John Carroll is the choice, or not, so we may finalize our planning for those enrolling in the fall.
