Q. What sports does John Carroll University offer?
A. JCU is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division III level. The university competes in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Men's intercollegiate athletics include: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field (indoor and outdoor), and wrestling. Women's intercollegiate athletics include: basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field (indoor and outdoor), volleyball, and cheerleading.

A. JCU is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division III level. The university competes in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), the third oldest conference in college athletics (predated only by the Big Ten and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association). Other OAC schools are: Baldwin-Wallace College, Capital University, Heidelberg College, Marietta College, Mount Union College, Muskingum College, Ohio Northern University, Otterbein College, and Wilmington College.

Q. What is the school mascot?
A. The university nickname is the Blue Streaks. No one knows for sure what a blue streak is, but the nickname is popularly credited to Ray Gibbons, a JCU graduate and sports writer who, after observing the JCU football team, was rumored to say, "There they go, just like a bunch of blue streaks."

Q. Are intramural sports available?
A. Yes, the university offers a wide selection of intramural leagues and events. Leagues include softball, basketball, flag football, volleyball, innertube water polo, racquetball, and soccer. Events and tournaments include ultimate frisbee, golf, bowling, soccer, tennis, wrestling, and dodgeball, among others.

A. Yes, John Carroll offers many different club sports, including ice hockey (men), lacrosse (men and women), rowing (men and women), rugby (men and women), sailing (men and women), skiing and snowboarding (men and women), and volleyball (men).

Q. Are there athletic scholarships available?
A. No, John Carroll University is an NCAA Division III institution, and Division III schools are not permitted to offer financial assistance based on athletic ability. Need-based and merit-based awards are available, however.
