I grew up in Northfield, Ohio, a small town located about halfway between Akron and Cleveland. I decided to attend John Carroll after looking at a variety of different schools: small, large, rural locations and urban settings. Visiting other colleges and universities allowed me to get a feel for what I was really looking for, and that turned out to be John Carroll. Not too big, or too small, located near a major city but not right downtown, JCU was the place for me.
While I immediately loved the gorgeous campus and the surrounding area, what I came to enjoy most about John Carroll throughout the years was the sense of belonging I felt. Every year I would look forward to JCU traditions like Homecoming and Christmas Carroll Eve, when students, faculty, staff, and alumni would all come together to celebrate. Some of my favorite memories are from midnight breakfasts in the dining hall, concerts on campus in the spring, and working Alumni Reunion Weekend in the summer. I was also fortunate enough to meet a great group of friends, and to learn new things about myself along the way. I never thought that I would end up joining a sorority and becoming an Art History major! I am now currently working on a Master’s degree in Education here at John Carroll, and still love belonging to this community!
I would definitely encourage you to visit campus so you can see for yourself all that JCU has to offer. Don’t hesitate to call or email if you have any questions!
