Endowed Program for Student Service/Immersion |
| |
A student program focused on service/immersion experiences is at the heart of a Jesuit learning experience and better equips students for learning, leadership and service. This unique opportunity allows faculty to intellectually prepare students for such experiences in different cultures, locations, and economic situations. Students experience society and global issues first hand and then are guided by faculty and others to reflect on what they learned, how they are changed, and what difference they might make. |
This program provides the resources for students who otherwise would not be able to participate due to financial constraints. It also enables the University to provide faculty stipends for their special service in guiding students. Presently nearly 200 students participate annually in the local and global service/immersion preparing and experiences. The goal is to more than double the number in a few years and ultimately to make such learning available to all students. |

Education remains the key to a better quality of life, a better society, and more committed service to others. John Carroll University is committed to being a force for change and a resource for improving our region and world. To that end it is essential that John Carroll, a nationally ranked Jesuit Catholic institution, remain affordable and maintain high academic standards. These two points are central to a new financial aid initiative. Driven by its mission John Carroll is making full tuition scholarships possible for highly qualified students from low-income families and assist in the cost of room and board. |
The John Carroll Scholarship Initiative is seeking partners who: |
- Understand the value of education to change individual lives and improve society;
- See the importance of the new program for highly qualified students from low-income families;
- Are willing to provide financial resources that will enable young men and women, who for financial reasons would not be able to receive a Jesuit Catholic education at John Carroll.
This is not simply a college education, but an opportunity for a new way of life and a brighter future for the next generation and the world! As a result graduates will enjoy a better quality of life, employers will have a more skilled workforce, Ohio will improve, and generations to follow will see higher education as a way of life and not an unattainable dream. |
In order to ensure the success of first generation college students, the John Carroll Scholarship Initiative will also make funds available to academic and student service programs that contribute to a successful experience. |
