The Beaudry Award was established in honor of the late Robert Beaudry of the Class of 1950. Each year, a graduating senior is recognized by his or her classmates and the University community for contributions in the areas of academic achievement, Christian life, leadership, and service to the University and community during their time as a student.
This year’s recipient of the Beaudry Award is Peter Niro.
Peter came to John Carroll from Seven Hills, Ohio, and graduated in May with a major in finance and a minor in Computer Science. He was involved at the University in a variety of student organizations, including Rhapsody Blue, Beta Theta Pi, WJCU 88.7, the Finance Association, and the Italian Club.
Peter served as a First-Year Retreat Leader and as a Eucharistic Minister and lector at Saint Francis Chapel. He also played guitar and sang in the Praise and Worship band, and performed as a singer and guitarist at liturgy services.
The Finance Department honored Peter with its Wall Street Journal Award. He has been on the Dean’s List every semester and has been inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Eta Sigma, and Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Societies.
Other accolades include Homecoming King in 2008, Mr. University in 2007, and the 2007 WJCU Disc Jockey of the Year Award.
In special recognition of exemplary service to others, the John Carroll University Alumni Association congratulates Peter Niro on receiving the 2009 Beaudry Award, honoring his academic achievement, leadership, service, and Christian life.
