Buildings on Campus
John Carroll’s campus is made up of more than twenty major buildings, predominantly Gothic in architecture, housed on sixty beautifully landscaped acres. John Carroll has a rich history of its expansion over the years.
Originally, John Carroll was located on the west side of Cleveland as St. Ignatius College. In 1923 it adopted the name John Carroll University- after the first archbishop of the Catholic Church in the U.S. and the founder of Georgetown University. In 1935, John Carroll moved to its current location in University Heights. It became coeducational in 1968.
The first building on campus was the Administration Building, built in 1935, which still operates with classrooms, administrative and faculty offices, and Kulas Auditorium, today. Since that time, the university has expanded immensely to meet the demands of a growing institution.
