JCU CLASS OF 1952

Class Notes

June 14-16, 2002 at JCU , the class of '52 will be the special 50th anniversary class. So special that the Fathers-that-be have designated the 50th to be entirely cost free. So what's your excuse for not signing up? We know some of us have legitimate conflicts that weekend, or health or distance problems. However, this is a "Bench Mark" anniversary and we're sure you want to be there! By the way, the JCU campus, if you haven't been there lately, has so many more buildings, dorms, and such, plus the impressive Dolan Science Center under construction on the once grassy quad area in front of the administration building.

Now, if a couple were to take advantage of all the amenities of the weekend, including rooms, meals, and any other favors offered by the school , they would save well over $900. Other classes will be paying hundreds of dollars to enjoy all the food and facilities at JCU that weekend, that you will enjoy free. You will not be bored. Reunions are fun and memorable events.

There are many stories to be told of those Carroll years. Here is one, send me yours at suwetz@aol.com. Many of us signed up for ROTC our Jr. year. We were veterans, former enlisted men, who suddenly became cadet officers. As such, we were assigned the command of a platoon of cadets, and at times required to march them around the campus, on Miramar Blvd. principally. Well, on a nice sunny fall afternoon I was marching a group of these novice soldiers when suddenly we found a huge rubbish truck in our path. Well,. I panicked, and in desperation could think of only one command--HALT!!!!!

Then "FALL OUT!!" and "REGROUP " in front of this truck. Wouldn't you know I knew the driver and he really gave me the raspberries. See you in June.

Sam Wetzel

P.S. Please note, the next committee meeting is March 13th at JCU at 10 A.M. We're still looking for committee members. Please call for details.
