Hello everyone, I hope you are all enjoying the nice spring weather that has finally arrived in Cleveland. Lots of news to report this time, so here we go . . . Stephanie (Slanina) Fellenstein had to miss seeing everyone at Reunion because she and husband Bill were busy with Emilia Rose who was born on June 25. She joins big sister Anna Katherine (Katy) who is 3. Stephanie is writing part-time for a newspaper and working on freelance projects when time permits. She was able catch up with some JCU alums at Emmy’s baptism. Her brother Phil Slanina ’00 is Emmy’s godfather and Molly (Mulhern) Blenk is her godmother. Molly, her husband Erick and their two children Abby (2) and Conor (1) came up from Cincinnati for the day. Molly is teaching two sociology classes at Northern Kentucky University. Carrie (Kramer) and Brennan Lafferty and their two children Grace (4) and Andrew (2) came to the baptism too. Julie (Smith) Castagnero and Bob ’94 brought Annie (1) to celebrate. Julie is busy teaching at Notre Dame College. Tara (Schmidtke) Reyda and her husband, Joe, were unable to come to the party. Tara teaches high school English at Chautauqua Lake Central School in NY. Other JCU alumni on hand were her brother Joe Slanina ’95 and his wife, Elizabeth (McDonald) Slanina ’95, Stephanie’s uncle Denis Meder 59 and cousin Ann Fohl ’04 . . .
Donna (Lucente) Frank has a new addition, George Christian IV (aka Christian) arrived on January 21st at 1:13 p.m., he was 8 lbs. 8 oz. and 20 inches long. His big sister, Lucina (1½) really likes him . . . Michelle (Cerino) and Chris Yarris have been in Switzerland for just over 2 years and couldn’t be happier. Their kids, Elizabeth (5½) and Blake (3¾) are doing well and speaking French. They attend the local schools and have integrated quite well. Michelle had their third child, a boy named Jacques Christopher, on February 10, which is Chris’ birthday too. Michelle says having a baby there was a neat experience: the normal hospital stay--by law--is 5 days. Baby is doing well and the two older kids love him. Chris was promoted to senior manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers and they plan to return to the U.S. 2005, probably July . . .
Tristan (Mennell) ’95 and Michael Yonek live in Brunswick, OH with their children, Alex Joseph (2) and Ryan Patrick (1) . . . Fred Saxton is in the U.S. Army and lives at Fort Hood, TX with wife Terri their 4 children -- Monique Gant (15), China (6), Hannah (1) and Kendall (1) . . . Larry Witmer and his wife Maria welcomed their second child Brandon Michael in February; they, along with big brother Cory Joseph (2) recently moved to Aurora, OH. Larry was voted president of the Cleveland Academy of Osteopathic Medicine in April 2004 . . . Barbara (Roche) Velasco and husband Paul had their first baby, Sara Grace on February 12th, they live in Novi, MI . . . Thanks for all the news; keep the updates coming. Until next time take care and God Bless, Julie.
