Although we�re still exhausted from Reunion, we have plenty of news to share about the class of 2000. But first, we would like to thank Rosalie Massey for planning a great weekend. Lisa started a new job at the Cleveland Zoological Society in April as grant writer and foundation relations coordinator and is enjoying her work at such a great Cleveland institution. ... Clare is excited that her husband, Jason Smith, will receive his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in May and then study for the bar exam before he starts work as an associate at McDonald Hopkins Co., LPA in the fall. ... Among those planning to attend Reunion are Robin (Morris) Pacheco and her husband, Adan, and Jennifer (Capuano) Puffer and her husband, Brett. Jonathon Powers was featured in the documentary film, �Gunners Palace,� which was shot in Baghdad in 2003, focusing on the soldiers of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, who lived in a partially destroyed palace that once belonged to Uday Hussein. Jon and filmmaker Michael Tucker toured the U.S. for screenings of the film prior to its public release. Jon lives in Washington, D.C., where he is job hunting and trying to start an organization to assist Iraqi orphanages. Jon hopes to call his organization, �Orphans� Hope International.� ... February 6 was a big day for Matt Kiedrowski, first he and Joy Marling were named the Paczki King and Queen of Lorain County and after being crowned, Matt proposed to Joy. Gina DiDonato-Kubec graduated from the University of Toledo’s College of Health Sciences with a doctorate in occupational therapy and is currently interviewing with several hospitals in the Dayton area. ... Congrats to Laura Catena who graduated from The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in June and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She is engaged to Greg Novotny, a 2001 Kent State graduate. The couple will reside in Pittsburgh where she will be employed as a small animal veterinarian and Greg will be employed as a dentist. ... Benjamin Danisek graduated from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in May and has since moved to Fairfax, VA, to take the bar exam – good luck, Ben! ... One of the most exciting pieces of news for your Class of 2000 scribes is that Clare Taft and her husband, Jason Smith, welcomed their first child on January 3 at 7:44 p.m. Grace Juliana Smith weighed 8 lbs., 5 oz. and measured 20.5 inches. The family is doing very well and Clare and Jason are enjoying every minute with their baby girl. Congratulations to Michael Paris and Chrystie (Kuhr) Paris. The couple welcomed a son, Collin, to their family on October 14, 2007. Collin joins his sister Samantha (21 mos.) at home. There is more baby news to report for Robin (Morris) Pacheco and her husband, Adan, who welcomed daughter Olivia Rosalina on June 21, 2007. We have some great news about another one of our classmates who is making headlines and doing his part to bring relief and peace of mind to children in need. Captain Jonathan Powers, who now lives in Washington, D.C., spent 14 months serving in Iraq throughout 2003 and 2004 with the Army’s 1st Armored Division. His experiences lead him to found the War Kids Relief Program under the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation. The mission of War Kids Relief, which launched in November 2005, is to help the children of Iraq recover from the destructive effects of war and give them hope and resources for a better future. Amy Basista now lives in Tallahassee, FL. and is enjoying the sun! She is the main anchor for WTXL ABC Newschannel 27 in the capital city. Amy anchors five shows a day, 25 a week. ... Tom Franzinger �99 finished his master�s in urban planning a year ago and has since moved to Washington, DC where he is in his first year of law school at Georgetown University Law Center, looking to practice international law. Tom accepted a job for the summer with the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland where he will be working on economic development. ... After graduation, Valerie Capiccioni went to Miami University and received an MS in child and family studies and is now working as a child and family therapist in the Cincinnati area. She is engaged to Kevin Gerbus; Susan Marcellus will be a bridesmaid in the wedding, which will take place in Cleveland. ... Kari (Clark) Barber and her husband, Greg, celebrate their third wedding anniversary on July 29, 2003. Kari is working as an 11th grade U.S. History teacher and returning to school for her master's in education. Steve works at MBNA. � More congratulations for Susan Marcellus who works as a first grade teacher in the Cleveland area and will marry David Ross, a Bowling Green grad, in June. He received a grant that allowed him to work full-time with the prosecutor�s office he had volunteered with through JVA. � Bridget Houlihan lives in Chicago and is pursuing her acting career, as well as working at a sport marketing firm. � Michael Baumgartner lives in Cleveland and works as a client representative for Marsh USA, Inc. � Sue Nadzam and Kevin Garvey also work at Marsh. � Carrie Mack and Kelly Richards both work as editors for Business Wire in Cleveland. � Daryl Cleveland is stationed at Fort Campbell, KY where his current rank is 1st Lieutenant and his assignment places him as a campaign coordinator. Daryl was married in August 2002. Daryl and his wife welcomed a new baby girl into their family on December 3, 2002, which already includes a son. winter 2003	After a fun-filled summer, JCU alums are moving on and moving up. Clare is in her third year of law school at Cleveland-Marshall where she is an executive editor of the Cleveland State Law Review, and editor-in-chief of the Gavel. Clare will begin as an associate at Benesch Friedlander Coplan & Aronoff in September 2003. Lisa accepted a position as account executive with Wendling Communications in Cleveland working on policies and issues surrounding improving urban education in Ohio. She received her master�s in nonprofit management from Case Western Reserve University in May and was awarded the Mandel Center Student of the Year Award. � More weddings are being planned for year 2000 graduates. � Mary Lembach is engaged to Tony Marrone, whom she met while living in Chicago. They are planning a wedding for May 31. Clare, Angela Susnjara and Maryellen Walsh are bridesmaids. � Beth Kulow and Brett Wilson were married in the Bahamas on September 27. � Nate Goshen '01and Brooke Borneo '01 will be married November 29. Jen Homick and Frank Feola �99 were married in late August 2001, with many 2000 grads in the wedding party including Melanie Shakarian, Andrea Sever, Hilary (Schwartz) Keberdle, Beth (Hutter) Lower, Maya Boumitri, Denise Glaros and Matt Jackson. Congratulations! Keeping on the subject of marriage, Lisa Horgan and Mike Stelmack �99 are going to tie the knot on October 5 of this year. ... Clare heard from Nate Cyril that Kristin Shaneyfelt was married on March 2 in Pittsburgh, PA to a fellow Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine student. Congratulations Shaneyfelt! ... Mike Biscaro and Kelley Gaughan got engaged in early February and have set a tentative date of July 2003 for their wedding. Both are living in Lebanon, OH, just outside of Cincinnati. Mike is in a Ph.D. program for psychology at Xavier University and Kelley is teaching. ... Martisse Best is engaged to Travis Dettmer, a graduate of West Point. The two met at the Officer Basic Course at Fort Lee Virginia and were stationed in Korea. Their wedding is planned for July 6 of this year. ... Annique Kozak will be Martisse�s maid of honor.
