| summer 2008 | Hello class of 2006! These past few months have been busy for our fellow classmates -- Lindsay Sykes is working as an account executive at Stand Advertising in Amherst, NY. ... Amy Howley will be entering her third year of teaching second grade in Charlotte, NC. She is also currently working on her master’s of education at Wingate University. ... Jake Oresick is a political organizer and strategist whose clients have included Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell, U.S. Senator Bob Casey, U.S. Representative Jason Altmire and Pennsylvania Superior Court Judge Christine Donohue. He most recently served John Edwards’ presidential campaign. ... Christine Bohn will be attending Purdue University in the fall where she will be working towards her doctorate in Chemistry. ... | spring 2008 | With the start of a New Year, the class of 2006 continues with their success including new jobs, promotions, and advanced degrees. Ashley Bittel is working for Clear Channel Radio as a marketing consultant. She also regularly voices commercials for Clear Channel stations including 96.5 KISS FM and WMMS 100.7. … Milko Cecez is in his second year of law school at The Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He is also working a few days a week at the Cuyahoga County prosecutor’s office. … Megan Curry is living in Boston, Mass., where she just accepted a position at Cengage Learning as the assistant editor to the History Titles at Wadsworth Publishing. … Diana Glaus and Christopher Arko got engaged on Christmas. … Matthew Hancak started a new job in January at ICS Laboratories, Inc. as an optical engineer. He helps design and set up optical test equipment and does uncertainty studies on existing test equipment. … Karen Harmeyer has recently finished a year in Seattle as a Jesuit Volunteer at the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, where she helped asylum seekers find pro bono attorneys. Karen is back in Ohio, and while her Peace Corps application is processed she is working for an immigration attorney and also at Fisher Cast Steel Products. ... Beth Ann Helminiak moved to NYC in September and is now working as a broadcast talent coordinator for Publicis, an ad agency, in Mid-town Manhattan. … Kristi Hosko is working at Automatic Data Processing as an associate district manager of sales. She is also currently mentoring and training a new associate and won associate district manager of the month for December for having the highest in sales. … Shea Keats will be getting her master’s in management from Case Western Reserve University in May. … Julie Klemens is working on her master’s in speech pathology at Kent State University. ... Megan Mahaffey just got promoted to senior account executive at Stern Advertising and now works on the Sterling Jewelers account. … Sean Martin is in the Ft. Lauderdale Miami-Dade area and has been working for Grant Thornton LLP as a tax associate for a year and a half now. He is also working towards his master’s in taxation at Florida Atlantic University. ... Molly McBride is teaching third grade at a catholic school in Rochester, N.Y., and working towards her master’s in special education. ... Gabriella Mileti is living in Milan, Italy, where she moved after graduating to study fashion styling at Istituto Marangoni. She is also working backstage and dressing the models during Milan Fashion Week. … Since this past November, Gene Natale has been working in athletics at Cleveland State University in sports information and doing promotions for CBS Radio in Cleveland. | fall 2007 | It has been a year and a half since we have graduated from JCU, and we have been busy with new jobs, new places to live, and engagements. ... Laura Carlson has moved back to Cleveland after working in a Chicago media agency for a year. Laura is now a graduate assistant at JCU, where she is working towards her MBA. ... Megan Conley is living in Naples, FL. ... Melanie Hoppert is currently in her second year teaching kindergarten in Fayetteville, NC. Last October she got engaged to Nathan Kish, a 1Lt in the 82nd Airborne. He is currently deployed to Baghdad, Iraq and will be returning home in April after 15 mos. Melanie and Nathan will be getting married at Saint Francis Chapel on June 14, 2008. ... Nicole Karlak began working in the Branch Management Trainee Program for National City after graduation. But in May of this year she moved on to the corporate side of National City in the Commercial Banking Development Program and is now a corporate credit analyst. This fall Nicole began classes for her MBA at John Carroll University. ... Megan Mamolen and Mike Smolko ’02 will be getting married September 20, 2008 at Gesu. Megan is also in her second year at Case Western Reserve for a Ph.D. in molecular biology. ... Allison McDonnell is living in Raleigh, NC, working for Genworth Financial in a Leadership Development Program. ... Amy Mulka is currently at Marietta College getting her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. ... | summer 2007 | A year out of JCU and the class of ’06 is continuing on their way to starting great careers and lives. Bryan Kunsman is working for Cohen & Co. Ltd in the tax department as a staff accountant. He is also obtaining his master’s of accountancy with a tax focus from Cleveland State University. ... Skip Kawalek, a 2 Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, is serving as a platoon leader. He will be deployed to the Middle East in August. Currently, Skip is stationed at Fort Eustis, VA. Skip, we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers along with all those serving in the military. ... Greg Hoener, former Carroll News writer, is perusing a writing career as senior writer for Forest City Enterprises. ... Beginning in August Amy Allega will be an intern at South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools, while continuing at JCU in the graduate school, pursuing a Masters of Education in Middle Childhood Language Arts and Social Studies with the school based program. As for us, Christine Bohn is still in Cleveland and working for STERIS as a chemist and this past year Roberta Muoio has been volunteering for the service program, Amate House in Chicago. | spring 2007 | Busy, busy, busy ... it’s finally spring and a year since we all graduated! I keep hearing of new job news and moves to new cities so it seems like we all have been keeping busy! Most of the new class news I have been told includes new jobs and moves ... including a large group in New York City. I heard from Melissa Witek who says that Tim Mahoney is doing sales for CARR Business Systems, Curtis Watkins is working at KPMG and Brad Neumeister just started his new job at Goldman Sachs doing execution and clearing sales. In addition, Meghan Betz is working for Condé Nast as a sales assistant in the bridal group. Melissa says, “It’s nice to have everyone here in such a big city. It’s made the transition of working and moving to a new city so much easier.” ...Another grad that recently made a big move is Mike Scanlan who accepted a job with the LPGA as the media relations coordinator in Florida. Mike accepted this position after concluding this past football season doing media relations with the Buffalo Bills. Mike joins Sean Martin who is also working in Florida as a tax associate for Grant Thornton LLP. ... Some Pittsburgh news includes Brigid O’Neil, who is finishing up her nursing master’s at Duquesne this spring and plans to move back to Cleveland this summer while Brian Walsh is still taking MBA classes at Duquesne. ... In Cleveland, Jeffrey Nick MBA ’06 works for Oatey Company corporate director for EHS while Jocelyn Mazzoni is working for Exel Global Logistics as a project manager. William George continues to work as a personal trainer for JCU and the JCC and Megan Mahaffey works at Stern Advertising as an account executive. ... | summer 2006 | It’s really hard to believe that only three months have passed since graduation! I’ve been hearing great news from everyone involving all different jobs and moves. As for myself, I recently made the big move to Chicago to start at Hostway Corporation. I work in the marketing and design department doing account management. I love every aspect of the job and being in such a great big city filled with fellow Carrollers has made the move even easier! Speaking of moving, Melissa Witek is gearing up to start at Xerox Corporation next month. Missy will be an account representative and go through intense training for her new position. Like Missy, Mike Scanlan has just recently made a move to Buffalo to work with the Bills. Mike, a former stand out Carroll News writer, is working in the media relations department there and loving every 300 days a year he has to work. Back home in Pittsburgh, Brigid O’Neil has started her classes at Duquesne University for nursing. Brig will complete her master’s next year. Diana Glaus is currently in the Teaching for America Program where she is teaching underprivileged children in Camden, NJ. This is a very prestigious program and it was an honor for Diana to be chosen. Randa Nemer has decided to stay in Cleveland and accept a position with Rockwell Automation doing marketing. Although she just started, she says the position is challenging and a great learning experience. Also staying in Cleveland is Caitlin McGrath who recently accepted a teaching position with Roxboro Middle School. Caitlin student taught at Roxboro and she loves the experience of teaching middle school kids in social studies and English. ... Joining the Cleveland crowd, Jessica Kerns started her new job right after graduation. Jess works at Ohio Savings Bank in marketing and advertising. ... Nonna Bagdasaryan also accepted a job with Target Corporation and is an executive team leader. ... I hope things are going well with everyone and that you all keep me posted!
