| 1. You came across as being quite satisfied with the bronze medal you won at the Athens Olympics. | |
| 2. How much was your time off your best? | |
| 3. Are there times when your tactical plan just is not the right tactical plan? | |
| 4. How would you assess your tactical plan for the Olympics? | |
| 5. So 3 workouts a day 3 days a week for 3 months. How long is each workout? | |
| 6. At the distance you're swimming, how does speed relate to aerobic conditioning? | |
| 7. Besides the 800 you also swim the 400 which seems on the cusp between sprints and distance. Is it comparable to running the quarter-mile? | |
| 8. Have you ever gone up to the 1500? And how have you done? | |
| 9. So Athens was a joyful experience. Any high points? | |
| 10. Does competition at that level get nasty ever? | |
| 11. Closing ceremonies? Parties on the beach? | |
| 12. You've been doing this for a long time now. Do you ever get blase about it? Is it still exciting? | |
| 13. Can you tell me about the automobile accident? | |
| 14. That was before Sidney! Tell me about your reconditioning. Did you have to work incredibly harder to get ready for Sidney? | |
| 15. Would you say that in Athens you were not as intense as you had been in Sidney? | |
| 16. Compared with other swimmers who have muscular shoulders, big feet and other unusual physical features, you're small. Are you atypical for swimming? | |

| 18. You said you were involved in many sports as a child. Tell me how swimming started for you | |
| 19. When did someone notice your potential as a swimmer? | |
| 20. Who has been important to your swimming besides your parents -- your coaches? | |
| 21. When did you start the heavy training regimen? | |
| 22. You must have learned along the way that our mental impression of what our physical limits are can be extended, right? | |
| 23. But in order to accomplish what you've done, you've had to learn to transcend limits, isn't that true? | |
| 24. Do you remember the moment when you realized you'd broken into the upper echelon of swimmers? | |
| 25. How has all of the world travel been for you? | |
| 26. What's the secret to your success in swimming? | |
| 27. How long will you continue to compete? | |
| 28. You're majoring in communications. What do you want to do after you graduate? | |
| 29. I gather that mental preparation for competition has not been a problem for you. | |
