The department offers courses in
the
historical and theoretical study of the visual arts, in addition to
studio arts courses. Art History explores art as a record of human
creativity and allows the work to be experienced in its original
artistic and intellectual context. The scholarly methods used increase
perceptive ability, analytical skills, and understanding of various
cultural traditions, and the facility to express oneself with clarity
and precision - strengths essential to any walk of life and any future
career.
