University Internal Grant & Fellowship
Application Announcement


The following assistance and awards are available to full time faculty according to the procedures and deadlines described below. More complete information and the application forms are available in the Office of the Academic Vice President, or online.

SUMMER RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP: The deadline to submit applications for Summer 2010 is Monday, September 27, 2010 There are two categories of awards: the $5,000 award does not permit the recipient to teach during any summer sessions; the $3,000 award permits the recipient to teach only one course during one of the summer sessions. This fellowship is available only to Arts and Sciences faculty. (tenured or tenure track faculty)

GEORGE GRAUEL FACULTY FELLOWSHIP: The deadline to submit applications for 2011-2012 fellowships is Monday, October 18, 2010. There are different fellowship categories which are explained on the application form. (tenured or tenure track faculty)

FACULTY INSTRUCTIONAL GRANT: The deadline for applications is Monday, April 11, 2011. The maximum award is $600. Applications should be prepared according to the format described in the guidelines. (full time faculty)

WORKSHOPS ON TEACHING: Funds are available to support registration fees for workshops that improve teaching. (full time faculty)

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Funds are available for financial assistance for research expenses and page costs. A request may be made at any time during the academic year and will be scheduled for consideration at the earliest meeting of the Committee on Research and Service after receipt of the request. The committee chairperson may approve amounts up to $300 without committee action. (full time faculty)

SUMMER COURSE DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIPS
: Fellowships are available for Catholic Studies, Jesuit, and Diversity Course Development (tenured or tenure track faculty) and Integrating Ethics into the Curriculum Course Development (full time faculty). The deadline for submitting applications for Summer 2010, is Monday, February 7, 2011. The amount of the award is $3,500.

There are also funds for partial fellowships for Integrating Ethics into the Curriculum. Recipients of the partial fellowship may teach one course during one of the summer sessions. Guidelines for each of these fellowships are available with the forms.

SUMMER TEACHING FELLOWSHIP: Fellowships are available through The Center for Faculty Development for faculty to engage in the scholarship of teaching. The deadline to submit applications is Monday, February 7, 2011. There are two categories available. The first category is a $5,000 stipend and the recipient may not teach during any summer session. The second category is a $3,000 stipend and allows faculty members to teach only one course during the summer session. (tenured or tenure track faculty)

KAHL ENDOWMENT: Funds to support faculty efforts to internationalize the curriculum are available. These requests should be made through the department chairperson and the appropriate dean to the Academic Vice President. (tenured or tenure track faculty)


PLEASE NOTE: Applications for external funds (NSF, NEH, Fulbright) should be discussed with the Associate Academic Vice President and the dean of your college or school prior to application. A copy of the final application and/or proposal must be filed with the along with an internal approval form. See: Submitting Proposals for External Funding.
