Welcome to the site for the Associate Academic Vice President for Academic Programs and Faculty Diversity!

The responsibilities of this office include Faculty Development, Faculty Diversity and Academic Programs. On these pages, we hope that you can find pertinent information related to all three.

The faculty development site includes relevant information about all aspects of faculty role including teaching, research and service. Applications for various internal awards with regard to teaching and research can be found on this site as can pertinent deadlines. A Celebration of Scholarship will take place in March 2009. This annual event provides an opportunity to showcase the scholarly interests of our faculty and students. Watch this site for additional information. Other faculty development initiatives for the 2008-2009 academic year include a Scholarly Lunch Series allowing grant recipients the opportunity to share the results of their work…watch this site for a schedule. Notes from the President’s Desk will be making a comeback this fall and a faculty mentoring program is being launched in conjunction with the longstanding New Faculty Seminar now organized by this office.

The diversity responsibilities of this office include supporting academic departments in their efforts to recruit and retain faculty from historically underrepresented populations and working with campus constituencies to foster an inclusive and culturally competent campus. Various resources with regard to the recruitment and retention of faculty as well as how to foster a welcoming and multicultural environment can be found on the Faculty Diversity pages.

JCU boasts 37 majors, 31 minors and 17 interdisciplinary concentrations. All can be accessed from the Academic Programs pages as can two of our signature programs that link the curricular and the co-curricular, the Arrupe Scholars in Social Action Program and the Presidential Leaders program.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you have or suggestions for improving this site.
