CALL FOR PAPERS
EASTERN GREAT LAKES BIBLICAL SOCIETY
30 January 2010
The Eastern Great Lakes
Biblical Society will hold its 2010 annual meeting on April 8–9 at the Days Inn & Suites in Richfield, Ohio.
A learned society of Biblical scholars sponsored in part by the American Schools of Oriental Research, the Catholic Biblical Association, & the Society of Biblical Literature, the EGLBS invites paper proposals from members of any of these organizations, scholars in higher education, ministers, students (with a professor's nomination), and other interested
parties. Please note that EGLBS
is not affiliated with the American Academy of Religion; while AAR members are welcome to paricipate in EGLBS meetings, paper proposals on topics
unrelated to the Ancient Near East and/or the Bible and cognate literature
ought to be directed elsewhere — e.g., to the Midwest region of the AAR or
the Ohio Academy of Religion.
Paper
proposals will be considered under the following categories. Select the
category that best fits your paper topic and send the necessary information to
the EGLBS Secretary-Treasurer AND to the appropriate Convener(s) by electronic or surface mail. In
addition to our regular program units, the Association is pleased to welcome as
plenary speakers our own President, John Byron, Associate Professor of
New Testament and Greek at Ashland Theological Seminary, and guest speaker Loren T. Stuckenbruck, Richard Dearborn Professor of New Testament Studies at Princeton Theological Seminary
Individuals are limited to
one paper presentation at the annual meeting. If you are making multiple
proposals, make sure to inform the appropriate conveners and indicate
which of the presentations you would prefer to give. Due to the special events occuring at this 40th Anniversary meeting, presentation space is at a premium. Sections may close early if chairs receive sufficient high-quality papers to fill the available time. Proposals are reviewed on a rotating basis, so earlier submisions have a greater likelihood of being accepted. The absolute deadline for receipt of proposals for the 2010 annual meeting (including any necessary supporting materials) is 28 February 2010.
If this is your first
proposal with the EGLBS or if you are submitting to the "Miscellaneous" section, please send the entire text of your presentation so the convener can discern where best it might fit on the program.
Student-presenters are
welcome at the annual meeting, with the support of a faculty mentor. See below for further information.
