Biology Department Facilities
| Woodlake Environmental Field Station |
The Biology Department is housed in the Dolan Center for Science and Technology (below).

Both the Main Atrium (left), as well as the Biology Atrium (right), are used as a gathering place, as well as a quiet place to study.

Most teaching labs (left) are smart rooms and have ample equipment. All faculty have their own research lab (right).

The department has greenhouse facilities for both teaching (left) and research (right) purposes.

Woodlake Environmental Field Station
In partnership with the department of Biology, Geology and Environmental Sciences at Cleveland State University, the National Park Service and CSU's Center for Environmental Science, Technology and Policy, the Department of Biology at John Carroll University developed the Woodlake Environmental Field Station located within the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in nearby Peninsula, Ohio. The station is intended to facilitate long-term, on-site research and will be an excellent educational resource for field exercises in ecology, geology and environmental biology. An old field, wooded areas, a small stream and beaver pond are among the habitats available for study on the station grounds and other areas within the park are easily accessible from this central location.
The Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland Sanctuaries
The Biology Department has access to the four nature preserves owned and managed by the Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland. These sites have been designated as "Important Bird Areas" and include a variety of habitats, including riparian areas, forests, wetlands, and grasslands. Rare plants, such as fringed and bottle gentian, can be found on the properties.
