Internship Opportunites

Numerous opportunites for internships and part-time employment are available for students at John Carroll. In addition to part-time positions, a program in which accounting majors do full-time internships during the spring semester of their junior year has been very popular in recent years. Employers include "Big Four" accounting firms; national, regional and local public accounting firms; and several corporations headquartered in the Cleveland area. The importance of strong experiential education at the undergraduate level can not be stressed enough to the developing young professional, but as proof, a high percentage of students receive offers for full-time employment as a result of their internship experiences.

Many graduates go into public accounting, working for accounting firms as auditors, tax professionals, and management advisors. Other graduates work in industry or government. There is considerable career flexibillity and a strong support network of accounting alumni who have reached the highest career levels in industry and public accounting. Upon completion of the accountancy program, many graduates seek professional certification by taking the examinations to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and/or a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
