Welcome from the Dean

I am very proud to welcome you to the John M. and Mary Jo Boler School of Business at John Carroll University.  We have an outstanding history of accomplishments including alumni who are leaders in every facet of society.  Based on this level of excellence, we have an AACSB accreditation that is only awarded to the top 10-12% of business schools nationally and we are consistently ranked in the top 10 business schools in the Midwest.

As we look to the future, we need to ask ourselves what our mission and vision statements mean in practice.  That is, what do we really do? 

Our core competency is developing leaders who make a difference.  Our graduates are very successful leaders in organizations.  They have acquired the knowledge, the compassion and respect for others, and the passion and confidence that it takes to lead an organization.  Our graduates also are making a difference in their community.  You’ll find many of our graduates are board members in non-profit organizations, and many others give back to the community in a variety of other ways. 

Our new generation of students will need to be exceptionally strong leaders – they are facing serious business issues and serious issues in society.  As a faculty, we are passionate about leadership and truly care about the development of each person in our program.  By making the student experience personal and the education excellent, we will continue to develop very strong leaders who have the courage to make a difference.    

Looking to our future, this year we will be implementing a number of initiatives designed to make our program even stronger.  Among these many initiatives, we will be re-designing our MBA curriculum and we will be introducing a number of faculty development initiatives that will support faculty who want to explore new, leading edge intellectual avenues for teaching and research.   We will be putting in place the programs and initiatives that will prepare our students for leadership in the 21st century.

The future brings with it tremendous opportunity and I am thrilled to be leading the Boler School of Business into that future.
