Dr. Jack Soper served as director of the Cleveland Center for Economic
Education. He has taught at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst,
The University of Michigan, Central Michigan University, the University
of Missouri-Columbia, and Northern Illinois University. He has also served
as senior economist and program director for the Joint Council on Economic
Education in New York, and as executive director of the Illinois Council
on Economic Education.
He is the author of two books, over 50 articles in professional journals,
and five national test instruments in economics and entrepreneurship.
His publications have appeared in The Journal of Political Economy, The
American Economic Review Papers & Proceedings, The Southern Economic
Journal, The Journal of Economic Education, Business Economics, The Journal
of Private Enterprise, and Managerial Finance, among others. He is the
recipient of five national awards for excellence in the teaching of economics
and private enterprise. In 1994-95, he received two national awards for
excellence in research in economics and private enterprise education,
awarded by the Association of Private Enterprise Education. In May 1995,
he was elected Vice President of The Society of Economics Educators. He
also served that organization as its President in 1996-97.
