Gerald P. Weinstein has been teaching accounting since 1974. He first
taught at John Carroll in 1979 and has been on uninterrupted continuous
appointment since 1988. He has taught many accounting topics including
financial, managerial, tax, intermediate and advanced accounting. His
main research interests are educational issues and he has published articles
in several outlets including Journal of Accountancy, Journal of Accounting
Education, The Tax Advisor, Management Accounting Quarterly and Accounting
Today.
Professor Weinstein is a CPA, and has been licensed in Ohio since 1977.
He practiced from 1976 -1981 with national, regional and local accounting
firms and is presently managing a small professional practice serving
family-owned businesses, not-for-profit entities, and individuals with
accounting and tax services. He is involved in various community service
activities including free preparation of income tax returns for low income
and non-English speaking taxpayers through the IRS’ Volunteer Income
Tax Assistance (VITA) program. He has served on boards of several non-profit
agencies. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Ohio Society
of CPAs, Institute of Management Accountants and American Accounting Association.
