Mellen Speaker Series

The Fall 2009 Mellen Series Presentation will be given by Mr. James F. Kirsch, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ferro Corporation. Now in its 90th year, Ferro was founded in Cleveland as the Ferro Dr. Brooks (left) with Mr. Siegal (right)Enameling Company, a producer of porcelain enamel frit.  Today, the Company is a leading global supplier of that specialized glass material, as well as other inorganic and organic materials, including pigments and glazes; conductive powders and pastes; polymer additives; plastic compounds and colorants; and high-potency pharmaceutical ingredients. Ferro has 5,400 employees globally and is headquartered in downtown Cleveland.

In this series, the Mellen Chair invites executive officers of Ohio-headquartered, publicly held firms to discuss the strategic focus of their companies and the challenges they face. The series offers a rare chance for attendees to ask corporate decision makers questions about their business and managerial strategies. The series was established by the Edward J. and Louise E. Mellen Foundation, which also founded the Mellen Chair in Finance at John Carroll University that is currently held by Dr. Leroy Brooks.

The lecture will start at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in the D.J. Lombardo Conference Room and be followed by an informal reception. It is free and open to the public and all JCU students.
If you are interested in attending this seminar, please email mellen@jcu.edu.
