Michael L. Hardy ’69

As partner-in-charge of the Cleveland office of Thompson Hine LLP, one of the largest and most-respected law firms in the country, Michael Hardy leads a group of more than 150 attorneys, and personally specializes in environmental law. He also serves as lead counsel for scientific and medical experts in life sciences and product liability litigation.

Mr. Hardy is described in Chambers USA, a well-respected peer review directory of attorneys in the U.S., as “universally recognized as one of Ohio’s finest litigators … an attorney of great stature.”

Indeed, Mr. Hardy’s record of professional and civic involvement includes membership on myriad boards and associations on the local, state and national level. Similarly, he has received many regional, national and international honors and awards, including recognition in The International Who’s Who of Environmental Lawyers, Who’s Who in American Law and is repeatedly lauded as one of Northeast Ohio’s Leading Lawyers (Environmental) from 2001-2006 by Inside Business magazine. He also is a proud member of Leadership Cleveland’s Class of 2005.

During his Carroll days, Mr. Hardy was an officer of Student Union, member of the History Association and the Honors Program. He received his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in history.

As an alumnus, he is actively involved with the University as a member of the Entrepreneurs Association - including its Advisory Board and as a Master Member, who sponsors students for membership in the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization - and through prior service on the University’s Board of Regents, Alumni Association Board, and as a Class Agent on reunion committees.
