Assistant Professor of Sociology
Richard Clark was honored with the 2006-2007 Curtis W. Miles Faculty
Award for Community Service by the Faculty Forum Research, Service
faculty Development Committee.
Presenting the award prior to the Ignatian Day program on Jan 12 was
Peggy Finucane, Interim Director-Center
for Community Service.
"We are honoring Rich's commitment to restorative justice, death penalty
issues, and environmental issues," Dr. Finucane said. "In and out of
the classroom, Rich has demonstrated a long-time commitment to these
issues.
Over the last 10 years, he has participated in the Cleveland
Coalition against the Death Penaltyand has co-developed a course on
the Death Penalty and a course on Religion and Community in Northern
Ireland. Additionally, Rich is an active member of the Sierra Club,
holding positions locally, regionally, and nationally."
In accepting the award, Dr. Clark expressed
his gratitude to his colleagues, especially Dr. Penny Harris for
nominating him.
