WEDDINGS

John Carroll University and the Department of Campus Ministry do have some important Wedding Policies.  Please read them below.

  • Weddings are normally celebrated in a parish church. Some couples because of their close relationship to John Carroll University wish to be married in the University's Saint Francis Chapel.  We are happy to be able to make the chapel available for weddings of members of the faculty, staff or administration or their children, and for weddings of students or alumni.
  • Because a great demand for the use of the chapel and because the normal place for weddings is the local community of faith, the diocesan parish, we regret that the chapel cannot be made available to others.
  • Saint Francis Chapel is a Roman Catholic chapel, not an inter-denominational or multi-denominational chapel. All weddings scheduled for celebration in this chapel must be in accord with Catholic canon law.
  • Couples who qualify and desire to use the University chapel should contact the Campus Ministry office as soon as possible to inform us about your interest in using the chapel on the date you wish and to find out what other arrangements need to be made. They will have to secure a priest or deacon to officiate at their wedding, and they will need to consult him at least six months prior to the wedding to begin the necessary preparations, counseling, education and paperwork.

If you qualify for a wedding to be held in St. Francis Chapel, and would like to begin the process of scheduling, please contact John Scarano jscarano@jcu.edu  or by phone at (216) 397-4717.
