Bishop Alvaro Ramazzini
Diocese of San Marcos, Guatemala
“A Prophetic Voice for Human Rights"
Friday, September 12, 2008
Bishop Alvaro Ramazzini is world recognized defender of the poor and vulnerable. His ideas and rhetoric reflect the encyclicals of Pope John Paul II, promoting a social justice founded on principle of human dignity. Thus rooted, he is deeply committed to treating campesinos, immigrants, and the landless in his country as children of God. Giving voice to the voiceless has earned him many death threats. Nonetheless, following the inspiring tradition of martyrs in Central America, he is not deterred. |
