GUIDANCE RETREAT
Ignatian Leadership Retreat
Next retreat: Spring 2010 (Dates TBA)
This overnight retreat provides an opportunity for current and emerging student leaders to reflect on qualities, characteristics and practices of effective leaders within the Ignatian tradition. In his book Heroic Leadership, Chris Lowney identifies four core leadership pillars that contributed to the success of Jesuits over 450 years: self-awareness, ingenuity, love and heroism. Guidance Retreat invites students to explore these themes as they relate to leadership experiences at Carroll and beyond. The retreat incorporates large and small group discussion, communal and individual prayer and reflection, as well as opportunities for informal conversation.
This retreat is by invitation only. Campus Ministry staff nominates student leaders to participate in the program. Letters of invitation will be sent in early September. The retreat is coordinated by Mr. Jimmy Menkhaus, ’03, ‘05G, and lecturer in Religious Studies, and other local young alumni participate as presenters. The retreat is usually held at Carrollodge. A $20 registration fee helps to defray the costs of food and materials.
