John Carroll University will serve as host for the Ohio Fair Trade Expo, scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2009. The event will take place in the Dolan Center for Science & Technology from 9 AM to 4 PM.

The day will include speakers and workshops for members of faith communities, high school students, college students, fair trade advocates, those interested in social entrepreneurship, and all others who want to learn about the Fair Trade movement in Ohio and beyond. In addition to speakers and workshops, the day will feature a Fair Trade market, bringing together 20+ vendors from across Ohio with a variety of fair trade gifts, clothing, and food & drink products.

The Ohio Fair Trade Expo will bring together fair trade advocates, supporters, students, and entrepreneurs from across Ohio who are interested in fair trade.  The expo is intended to be an educational event that will empower and impassion people as students, members of faith communities, and consumers to become advocates for fair trade, which we hope will build energy for a larger fair trade movement in Ohio. Goals of the movement include: an increase in fair trade certified food and drink products sold in groceries and retail stores; increased networking and support of businesses selling fair trade apparel, crafts, and other items; and better region-wide recognition of the fair trade concept as an important and viable business model.
