ELEVATOR

Call Facilities: x4314 or Campus Safety Services: x4600

  1. If you are trapped in an elevator, use the emergency phone to notify Campus Safety Services.  If the phone is inoperable, turn on the emergency alarm which will signal for help.  DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EXIT A STALLED ELEVATOR UNLESS DIRECTED TO DO SO BY CAMPUS SAFETY SERVICES OR THE UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT.

  2. If a person is stranded in an elevator, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FORCE OPEN ELEVATOR DOORS.  BE PATIENT.

  3. Notify Facilities at x4314.  If after 5:00 PM or on a weekend or holiday, contact Campus Safety Services at x4600.  Provide the following information:

    1. Your name

    2. Building

    3. Floor

    4. Present situation

  4. A person in an elevator needs to be reassured that his/her alarm has been noticed and help is coming.  Keep in contact until help arrives.

  5. If you find an inoperative elevator without occupants, notify Facilities immediately at x4314.

  6. If you find an inoperative elevator and you need assistance to go up or down stairs, contact Campus Safety Services for assistance at x4600.
