MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN OF STUDENTS
Sherri A. Crahen, Ph.D.

I joined the Student Affairs division at John Carroll University in June, 2004.  In my role as the Dean of Students, I have overall responsibility for managing Campus Safety Services, Developmental Programming, the Student Health Center, the Counseling Center and Student Activities.  I also oversee the student conduct system, which is coordinated by Donna Byrnes, the Associate Dean of Students.  I am available to students who would like to talk to me about issues or concerns they might have about their experiences at John Carroll.  My goals for the coming year are to work collaboratively with staff, faculty and students to engage more students in out of class experiences.  I very much believe that learning takes place both inside and outside of the classroom and that my role is to help facilitate opportunities for learning to take place.  Students at John Carroll have many excellent opportunities to develop lifelong skills, through working with faculty on collaborative research, serving as a member of a student organization, to being involved with social justice issues.  I encourage each student to be very intentional about your time while you are here, because it will go by very quickly.  If there is anything that I can do to help you out, please feel free to stop by my office.
