Minors

(President), The Labre Project, Intramurals, Relay For Life,

"When I first came to John Carroll, I knew almost no
one and hesitated about whether or not to become involved
on campus. However, the more I became involved in student
activities, the more people I met, the more friendships I
made, and the more I loved my time here at school. Student
involvement enriches my John Carroll experience by providing
me with friendship, leadership opportunities, and awesome
experiences. These experiences not only benefit me presently,
but I know they will also have a great impact on my future.
Without on-campus involvement, I may have left college not
knowing the leadership opportunities that I would have or
the friends that I would make." |

Name: Peter
Croke
Year: Class of 2012
Hometown: Bethel Park (Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania
Major: Finance
Activities: Arrupe Scholars Program, Honors
Program, Finance Association, Students in Free Enterprise
(SIFE), Intramurals
"Being involved at John Carroll has helped me to meet
a lot of people that I never would have otherwise. Also, it
has helped to strengthen my choice to pursue a major in finance.
Each activity and organization brings something different
to the table for me and is a great opportunity to grow as
an individual and as part of the community at John Carroll.
Through the Arrupe Scholars Program, I am able to do service
work and learn about social justice; through the finance association,
I can learn about my major and potential careers; and in SIFE,
I am able to learn more about free enterprise and what it
takes to start a business."

"John Carroll University's mission calls for its students
to be 'men and women for others,' and it is this statement
which compels me to be involved in campus activities that
promote justice for the oppressed and help make a difference.
My involvement has helped me find what I believe in, and what
I am willing to stand up for. The opportunities offered at
John Carroll constantly change me to be a better person who
can use their academic knowledge and apply it to real world
circumstances. I believe that being involved at John Carroll
is an honor and a duty which allows me to see the practicality
of being a 'man for others.' Through my involvement at John
Carroll, I have met many people who are interested in the
same areas as I am and this has led to some very great friendships.
My experience at JCU would not be as fulfilling if I was not
as involved as I am." |

Name: Ariel
Johnson
Year: Class of 2011
Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
Majors: English & Spanish
Activities: Resident Assistant, Office of
Admission Tour Guide, Honors Program, Kappa Delta Sorority
(Vice President of Standards), Gospel Choir (President), Presidental
Leadership Award Scholar, Chapel Choir, Theatre (Fall and
Spring One-Acts and Main Stage Productions), Immersion Experience

"Becoming involved at John Carroll has made my experience
here. There is no better way to get to know the Carroll community
than to become active within it. The JCU campus is my home
away from home, and it has offered me a variety of ways to
learn more about others as well as myself. I have become much
more comfortable in roles of leadership, and I am always ready
and willing to become engaged. Most importantly, I have made
some of my most valued friends through the activities I have
become involved in at JCU." |
