"I have always been involved with various activities,
so it was only natural to be involved at John Carroll University.
Equally, I have always been involved within my community.
I have been taught to always give back to my community and
that is what I plan to do here at John Carroll. That being
said, I am happy that I am involved because it has opened
so many doors. I have met some great people and I have learned
so much! I strongly encourage being involved because it is
a beacon to a better college experience! By being involved,
I have become acclimated to the campus and important venues.
Most importantly, I promote the act of being involved because
it offers a plethora of great lessons that stay with people
throughout their careers! Get involved and give back...what
do you have to lose?"

Name: Nick Skiviat

"College tour guides, orientation leaders, admission
counselors, and professors urge college students to get involved
in campus activities and organizations, and this is some of
the best advice that could be given to new students. College
is not simply about taking classes and earning a degree, but
about learning in and out of the classroom and preparing for
the real world. All students should join groups and clubs
on campus. It is the best way I can think of to carry out
interests that are different from your field of study, perform
in leadership positions, grow by learning about yourself and
others, share your talents, and meet people that you otherwise
wouldn't, especially students in different years of study.
I can't imagine being a college student and not being involved
on campus." |

"Being involved in extracurriculars at John Carroll has
allowed for me to grow in so many ways. When I first came
to John Carroll, it was difficult for me to fit in or to make
a connection with my fellow students due to being a commuter.
However, the more I became involved on campus, the more people
I was able to meet and to establish a friendship with.
Participation in on-campus activities has also enhanced my
interest in my major and professional goals. I have also been
able to develop many relevant skills such as organization
and time management which have proved worthy to my education.
And most importantly, through my extracurriculars I have created
lasting friendships which I now treasure more than ever.
For anyone attending John Carroll University, the most important
advice I could ever give is to become involved in your studies,
to grow with and within your community, and to develop your
interests through extracurriculars. Believe me, it is definitely
worth it!" |
