IMMUNIZATIONS

While no immunizations are required by law for the countries we visit, JCU strongly recommends receiving immunizations recommended by a medical professional.  The Immersion Program will offer one to two opportunities per semester to receive immunizations from a medical professional at JCU’s Health Center.

Fall '08 Immunization Sessions: One to two sessions will be held in mid-October and/or mid-November. All January immersion participants will be notified via e-mail with the dates, times, and necessary materials.

Spring '09 Immunization Sessions: One two two sessions will be held in mid-March and/or mid April. All May immersion participants will be notified via e-mail wiht the dates, times, and necessary materials.

COST: FSA's choosing to receive immunizations during the on-campus sessions in the Student Health Center can have costs billed to the appropriate department funding their experience. Those FSA's choosing to attain immunizations from a personal doctor can only be reimbursed by the University up to the total amount that would be charged at the Student Health Center (prices established by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health). For example, if the cost of the immunizations for a specific country is $170.00, JCU will not reimburse the individual for more than $170.00

For information about recommended immunizations visit the Center for Disease Control website at: http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/default.aspx
