FALL BASKETBALL 3 ON 3 RULES

1.  Conflicts: To eliminate class conflicts, games will begin at 9:00 PM and run through midnight.

2.  Games: All games will be played straight to 15 points (win by 2). Each basket is worth one point. Shots made behind the 3-point line are worth two points. Teams shall consist of 3-4 players. All teams must start game with three players, but may finish with two.

3.  Time Outs: One per team, per game.

4.  Substitutions: At a dead ball, made basket, foul shot.

5.  Ball Position: Changes teams after every made basket.

6.  Check After: Made baskets, dead balls, foul shots. Ball must be checked by the defense and passed in by the offense from behind the 3-point line.

7.  Defensive Rebounds or Steals: Ball must be returned behind the 3-point line.

8.  Fouls: All common, personal, and technical fouls shall count against a team total. A free throw will be awarded on the team’s 7th team foul. An individual player may not foul out of the game, but may be ejected by the court monitor or supervisor.

9.  Common Fouls and Violations:

     1.  Offensive Fouls:
            - Disallow a converted basket and loss of possession.
     2.  Fouled in the act of shooting:
            - Missed: Offense retains possession.
            - Made: Basket awarded, possession changes to opponent.
     3.  On and after bonus:
            - Common fouls: (1) free throw awarded to opposing team
            - Offensive: Disallow basket, (1) free throw awarded to opposing team

     4.  Fouled in the act of shooting after bonus:
            - Missed Fieldgoal: (1) free throw awarded to shooter
            - Missed 3-point: (2) free throws awarded to shooter
            - Made: Award basket and (1) free throw to shooter

10.  Court Monitors: Duties include determining possession at beginning of game, scoring, time-outs, enforcement of penalties and ejection’s, and final ruling on foul calls by participants. Court monitors assess technical fouls and eject players for physical and verbal abuse to player or monitors.

11.  Eligibility: The tournament is open to all students, faculty, and staff. No current member of the basketball team is eligible to play.

12.  Divisions: Men’s 6’ and under, Men’s over 6’, and Women’s. If any member of your team is over 6 feet, the team must play in the over league.

13.  Equipment: Basketballs will be provided.

14.  Sportsmanship: It will be expected that all participants respect the game, the facility, and their opponents. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.

15.  Risk Statement: The health and safety of all intramural participants is the highest priority, and therefore may take precedence over normal rules, regulations, and procedures. Participants play at their own risks.

16.  Awards: The teams who win the divisions will receive intramural T-shirts. Also, their picture will be taken and placed on the intramural board.
