GENERAL DODGEBALL RULES

1.  Rules:

1. Each team can have and play with a maximum of 8 players, minimum of 3.
2. There will be a five-minute time limit for each game. During the last 30 seconds of the game there will be no boundaries. The officials will blow a double whistle to announce the last 30 seconds of the game.
3. During the no boundary period all head shots will put out the thrower.
4. There is no stalling. If an official feels that you are stalling they can take away your ball and give it to the other team. No one should have possession of a ball for more than 20 seconds.
5. If a player is hit directly by the ball (without it hitting the ground first) the player is eliminated and must leave the playing area.
6. If a player catches an opposing teams throw, the thrower is eliminated and must leave the playing area.
7. You can not use a ball to block a shot. The ball will be considered an extension of your hand. So if a ball hits a ball that is in your hands, then you will be eliminated.
8. If multiple people are hit before the ball contacts the ground, all players who were hit are out. If the ball is caught in the air after striking another player, the first person hit and the thrower are out.
9. Each team will have to remain on their half of the court throughout play until the no boundary period.
10. Eliminated players can retrieve out of bounds balls for their team on their half of the gym, but may not re-enter the playing area. (No assistance permitted during the no boundary period.)
11. You can only use balls assigned to your court.
12. We will play best out of three games.

2.  To start: Each team will have four balls and will begin on the whistle.

3.  Eligibility: The league is open to all students, faculty, and staff.

4.  Divisions: A men’s and women’s division will be offered.
