HOME RUN DERBY RULES

    1.  Rules: The Derby will consist of three rounds. The first round will consist of five outs. The second round will be composed of the top five participants from the first round and will consist of three outs. The third round will be composed to the top two participants from the second round and will consist of three outs. This will continue until there is a winner. Each participant will be required to supply his/her own pitcher for the Derby. Pitchers must pitch underhand from the pitcher’s rubber. The batter must bat from within the confines of the batter’s box. In the women’s division the batter will bat from the pitcher’s rubber and the pitcher will pitch from the designated area in front of second base.

    2.  Eligibility: The tournament is open to all students, faculty, and staff. Current members of the JCU softball and baseball teams are not eligible to play.

    3.  Divisions: Men’s and women’s divisions

    4.  Equipment: Chicago-style softballs will be provided as well as bats. However, participants should bring their own softball bats if they have them. There are a few that can be checked out at the recreation desk with a current ID.

    5.  Sportsmanship: It will be expected that all participants respect the game, the field, and their opponents. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.
