WELCOME TO JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY
From the Director of Student Activities, Lisa M. Ramsey
My name is Lisa Ramsey, and I am the Director of Student Activities and Orientation at John Carroll University. One of my responsibilities is to coordinate Streak Week, a fun-filled weekend of educational programs and social events designed to introduce you to the University and to life as a college student.
You may be wondering why you need to attend Streak Week in addition to New Student Orientation that you attended during the summer. There are several reasons for this. Streak Week picks up where summer orientation ended and is designed to provide a more in-depth introduction to the University. Over the weekend, you will attend various educational sessions focused on issues you may encounter during your first year. Some of the sessions include: the JCU mission, alcohol, diversity and sexual assault prevention. During the weekend, you will also have a chance to meet your student mentor, who will serve as your small group leader for the weekend. In addition, there are several awesome evening activities planned for you. These events are a great opportunity for you to meet your classmates and see what the various student groups here at Carroll have to offer! We have also designed some free time in the schedule ofr you to get settled, have time with your roommate or new friends or just relax before classes begin!
Streak Week officially begins on Thursday, August 28 at check-in and runs until Sunday, August 31. Classes will begin on Tuesday, September 2. You can look for more specific details about Streak Week 2008 as the weekend draws closer, but in the meantime please browse the links on this site to find out more!
Please contact the Office of Student Activities if you have questions about Streak Week. You can call our office at (216) 397-4288 or contact the office by e-mail at studentactivities@jcu.edu. We have a great tradition with this program and we look forward to your arrival! Go Blue Streaks!
Sincerely,
Lisa Ramsey
