PROSPECTIVE RECREATION EMPLOYEES

Job Summary:  This person will mainly control operations at the recreation desk, which will include controlling access to gym, racquetball courts, and pool, checking out equipment, answering the phone, answering questions, and other duties as assigned. This person will also be responsible for ensuring that the gym is free from risk management hazards.

Job Relationship:  Director of Recreation, directly by Senior Supervisors

Responsibilities:

• Knowledge and enforcement of all rules and regulations of the Recreation Center
• Ensuring that only members are using the RecPlex Gym, racquetball courts, and pool
• Ensuring that paperwork is done for memberships, equipment, reservations, etc.
• Answering the phone and greeting patrons as they enter the building
• Knowledge of athletic staff and physical layout of facility and campus
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the Recreation Desk and RecPlex gym
• Assisting Senior Supervisor with risk management operations in RecPlex gym
• Accountable for financial transactions in regards to guest passes and memberships
• Maintain a professional image at all times
• Maintain positive relations and rapport with members of the RecPlex
• Comply with all rules set up by Director and perform duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Positive attitude, friendly, and heart for service
• Strong-willed individual who will enforce rules when confronted regularly
• CPR/First Aid Certification

Job Summary:  To ensure the safety of patrons using the natatorium

Job Relationship:  Director of Recreation and Senior Supervisors

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safety of patrons
• Enforce all rules and regulations
• Maintain positive relations and rapport with members of the RecPlex
• Keep certifications up to date and maintain proper training and skill level, which means attending in-service training offered by John Carroll University
• Maintain the cleanliness of Johnson Natatorium
• Maintain a professional image at all times (swim suit required)
• Comply with all rules set up by Director
• Perform duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must have a current Red Cross or YMCA Advanced Lifesaving Certification
• Previous lifeguard experience preferred
• Positive attitude and heart for service

Job Summary:  This student will oversee the usage of the Corbo Room, which includes controlling the access, ensuring that rules are followed, and maintaining a safe environment for patrons.

Job Relationship:  Director of Recreation and Senior Supervisors

Responsibilities:

• Knowledge and enforcement of all rules and regulations of the Corbo Room
• General knowledge of proper usage of all equipment
• Ensuring that only members are using the facility
• Tracking participation hourly and reporting information to Senior Supervisor
• Reporting any problems with equipment and machines
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the Corbo Room
• Maintain a professional image at all times
• Maintain positive relations and rapport with members of the RecPlex
• Comply with all rules set up by Director
• Perform duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Positive attitude and heart for service
• Strong-willed individual who will enforce rules when confronted regularly
• General knowledge and interest in cardio-strength machinery and fitness preferred
• CPR/First Aid Certifications

Job Summary:  Officiate competitive activities offered

Job Relationship:  Director of Intramurals, Intramural Assistant, and Graduate Assistants

Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of all rules and regulations, mechanics, and positioning of sports that they are working
• Attendance and participation in training sessions for sports being worked
• Communicating effectively with supervisors, participants, and other officials
• Control intramural games
• Show up 15 minutes early to assist with game setup
• Conflict Management
• Maintain a professional image at all times
• Comply with all rules set up by Director
• Perform duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of the sport interested in working
• Positive attitude and heart for service
• Strong-willed, confident students preferred to handle highly competitive athletes
• Available to work late afternoons and evenings

Job Summary:  Keep score, work with officials to control bench area, and make sure students participating are eligible.

Job Relationship:  Director of Intramurals, Intramural Assistant, and Graduate Assistants

Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of all rules, regulations, and scoring procedures for all sports that they are working
• Attendance and participation in training sessions for sports being worked
• Communicating effectively with supervisors, participants, and other officials
• Control scorers table
• Show up 15 minutes early to assist with game set-up
• Conflict Management
• Maintain a professional image at all times
• Comply with all rules set up by Director
• Perform duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of the sport interested in working
• Positive attitude and heart for service
• Available to work late afternoons and evenings

Job Summary:  Assist with answering phones, sorting and filing intramural results, updating results, and preparing score sheets for the day. Also, will be assigned other miscellaneous tasks.

Job Relationship:  Director of Intramurals, Intramural Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Update all results for intramurals
• Answer questions regarding intramurals when the director is unavailable
• Prepare score sheets for each day
• Assist with the marketing of the intramural programs
• Word processing
• Maintain a professional image at all times
• Comply with all rules set up by Director
• Perform duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
• Positive attitude, friendly, and heart for service
• Available to work mornings or afternoons
