WEST LOOP SHUTTLE

The Office of Residence Life and the Student Union coordinate the weekend West Loop Shuttle Service sponsored by the Student Activity Fee that runs every Friday and Saturday when classes are in session. The shuttle travels to the following destinations: RTA Rapid Green Line at the Belvoir stop; Whole Food Market and University Square; Coventry; Little Italy, and the University Circle area near Case Western Reserve University.

The shuttle runs on Friday night from 7:15 p.m. until 1:15 a.m. and Saturday from 11:15 a.m. until 1:15 a.m. The shuttle leaves JCU in front of the RecPlex in the Belvoir parking lot. The 24 passenger fully accessible bus is operated by Hopkins Transportation Services and will be designated as the John Carroll West Loop shuttle.

This service is free to John Carroll University students upon presentation of current JCU ID.

Below you will find some information about each of the locations serviced by the West Loop Shuttle.

RTA Rapid Green Line

Ride the shuttle to the rapid stop.  This train will take you to the heart of downtown Cleveland and all the way into Cleveland Hopkins Airport.  You can access the shops and restaurants at Tower City, take in a game and watch the Cavaliers, Indians and Browns go head-to-head with rival teams, go to Playhouse Square and the Karamu theater.

Whole Food Market and University Square

This stop will allow you to do some grocery shopping at Whole Foods, known for its fabulous organic foods.  First Watch is a great place for breakfast and lunch.  Walk across the street and stop at University Square which features Target, Joann Fabrics and TJ Maxx, and Applebee’s!  Make sure to eat at Geraci’s Pizza – award-winning pizza in Cleveland.

Coventry Road

Ride to the Coventry area of Cleveland Heights and enjoy shopping and dining exclusive to this area.  Find nostalgic toys at Big Fun, eat at a variety of restaurants including The Winking Lizard, Mongolain BBQ, and the Thai restaurants Mint Café and Tree Country.  Make sure to stop at Tommy’s Restaurant for its famous milkshakes and vegan options.

Little Italy

Experience a little bit of Italian culture in Little Italy.  Choose from a wide variety of pastas, gelato, and other Italian dishes at Trattoria, Anthony’s or Mama Santa’s Pizzeria.  And don’t forget dessert at Corbo’s bakery or Presti’s bakery!  Check out Cleveland.com for special events such as Feast of the Assumption and the Murray Hill Art Walk.

Triangle Building near Case Western Reserve University and University Circle

Visit Starbuck’s, Quizno’s, and Rascal House Pizza.  Walk across Euclid Avenue and down just a couple of blocks to get to the Botanical Gardens, the Cleveland Art Museum, Severance Hall, Cleveland Natrual History Museum, and the Western Reserve Historical Society.
