The Legion of Student Organizations (LSO) is a branch of the Student Union which provides financial, collaborative, and programming support to recognized and registered student organizations, and to assist them in fulfilling their missions and goals at John Carroll University. LSO members, the Vice President for Student Organizations, and the LSO Administration, known as the Student Organization Review Board (SORB), strive to actively create and sustain a vibrant campus culture for students and student leaders.

The central role of the LSO is to provide financial support to recognized and registered student organizations at John Carroll University. LSO meetings occur once a month with the submission of an allocation request form from each student organization a week in advance of the LSO budget meeting. During LSO budget meetings, a group of delegates from every recognized and registered student organization convenes and votes on the allocation of LSO money to student organizations. Each student organization receives one vote, and the budget meeting is chaired by the Vice President for Student Organizations.

The Student Organization Review Board is the administrative branch of the LSO. Comprised of the Vice President for Student Organizations, the previous Vice President for Student Organizations, the Coordinator for Organization Development, the Coordinator for Organization Communication, and the Auditor for Student Organizations, SORB works to develop and enforce LSO policies, as well as act as resources for student organizations and their student leaders. SORB also plans student organization fairs and is responsible for publicizing and deciding the winners of the annual Leadership Awards.

The symbol for the Legion of Student Organizations (LSO) is a flock of birds, symbolizing the individuality of each student organization in the LSO, yet at the same time symbolizing the indivisibility of the Legion itself. Working together for a common purpose, like a flock of birds, the Legion of Student Organizations promotes collaboration, development, education, and service for all students at John Carroll University.
